Samurai of Hyuga Book 2
There will be a sequel to Samurai of Hyuga! I am pleased to say that it is a much-anticipated one, from all the great replies and reviews SoH has gotten. Thank you for all the kind words, they mean a lot to me! It is great to see so many people get wrapped up into the world of Hyuga, the characters and the drama. I was unsure how interactive-fiction readers would react to such a powerful and personal protagonist. The first-person perspective of a badass ronin has appealed to more people and in a way I could only dream of.
I won’t go into specific details about the plot of the next book, but I can give you an idea of what to expect. There is a new demon our hero must defeat! New opponents too, for which your katana may not do you any good. It turns out there are more aspects to being the ‘Sword Who Cuts the Heavens’ than just killing people!
I can also safely say that Samurai of Hyuga 2 will be longer than the first book. By how much I don’t know, but it won’t be healthy to read it all in one sitting. There will be more aspects of Japanese culture that readers will experience, and in a more personalized way than just reading a wikipedia article. One of my hopes is the story prompts players to learn more on their own.
For the more hardcore interactive fiction readers, know that my approach to branching will be similar to the first book. Since I write these stories with myself in mind for the audience, I aim towards what I prefer to read. A quality personalized novel with 2-3 distinct and fulfilling playthroughs. This is also ideal for an impactful series that will span hundreds of thousands of words.
Romance!
With characters now introduced, love is in the air. I’ll be the first to admit I’m not a romance writer, but I understand how important romance is to readers. I’m working on creating believable (for fiction) yet dramatic romance scenes, while injecting a healthy dose of anime tropes of course! There will be some adult themes in keeping with the tone of the story, and things might get steamy. And speaking about steam…
STEAM
I am pleased to announce that Fatehaven and the Samurai of Hyuga series will be out for Steam some time later this year! This is a great market with tons of folks who aren’t exactly familiar with interactive fiction. I think a lot of young people who have never read a novel for pleasure will find themselves wrapped up behind the eyes of the main character! With the help of the Hosted Games platform, Multiple Choice Studios will change the way people see choose-your-own-adventure games!
What you can expect
I can safely say that if you enjoyed the first in the series, you will certainly enjoy the second. Samurai of Hyuga 2 is completely outlined. I have already written a good deal of words, though I won’t say how many. There are still many months of writing and editing and scripting to be done.

Gah, I can barely wait! Book 1 was fantastic, I absolutely adored it. In CoG games, Characters tend to be pretty weak and generic, but I loved the strong and distinct cast here. Everyone had their own personality.
Definitely my favourite CoG game by far.
DYING OVER HEREERRRRRRRRRR OMGGGG IM LEGIT CRYING SoH IS SO AMAZING THE CLIFFHANGER JUST KILLED ME!!!(mainly because I love Masashi with all my heart. Is, is it bad that I ship Masashi and the protagonist together? Am I weird for doing that?! Idk, I’m just hoping there are more Masashi and MC moments. Can’t wait!!

soH is a great game and I bought it for 5 different people what a amazing game I must say but I am sad because there’s no idea on a release date and I want options for relationships and tbh that was the only thing that was a bit lacking from it. I think as a normal Anmie reader I love games like this but we want like more ships and things to get steamy and more plus I also think it would be great to know more on our protagonist past we know major stuff went down but we would like to know a bit more. Overall it’s a great game and I think you made 5 loyal customers tonight. Can’t wait for the second book but can we please have a estimated time of when it will come out. Btw the only other author that got me this excited was George r r Martin. #bestwordgame
Relationships will play a major role in Book 2, rest assured. No idea on a release date though there will be a post for the demo before then. Glad you and your friends enjoyed the first one!

So, I’ve been replaying the game lately and I’m looking forward to the sequel, even if it’ll take months to come out, but there’s one thing I wanted to know. Will our stats/spirit animal/other stuff carry over? I mean, it should, right? Since it’s a direct sequel, the logical thing would be to pick up where we left off on both storywise and in the mechanical sense, but right now there’s nothing like Zombien where you can save up your data on your email and restore it on the sequel.
So I’m guessing a future update will add that option?
Also, I’m actually looking forward to the romance aspect of this. I know you said it wasn’t your forte, but I think it’s something that will be very interesting to explore, given the more noticeable weight of the flavor-text using the different stats.
Decisions and stats will all carry over onto the next book. I am surprised if savegame functionality has not yet been implemented across all platforms with the newest update. It will certainly be there before book two is released.
I am so happy i just finished this book and it is a relief that this book is coming out so soon because i need to the next book to survie i love this book and will support it until i can longer suport it. Matter of fact if i was rich and ever get rich i will supply a huge donation. And i would turn the book into a game or show to help get you more money that is how much i love a need this book.

Oh. My. God. When I finished the first game I was literally rolling on the floor because of how the game ended. I hated the ending because it was a cliffhanger but at the same time how can you hate such a good cliffhanger?!?! I seriously love all of your work!! Fatehaven and SoH hype! <3 I understand that you don't have any ETA for release date but could you at least tell us just about how far are you close to getting done? Like 20%, 60%. I’m excited for this! I’ve been looking forward to Book 2 ever since I finished Book 1.
Hyyype! I have to say, I REALLY like SoH 1. I loved c0ming back for a 2nd and 3rd round to see how the different stats affected my character’s reactions to the events. He felt like someone I was discovering rather then someone I was creating like other CYOAs. When he did stupid, or mean or petty things, it felt good.
If SoH 2 is even keeps the same quality as SoH 1 did, it will be a VERY good game.
Fortunately, I think there is a very good chance of that. Looking at the difference between Fatehaven and SoH, there are huge strides in the action, character power, and themes. SoH simply felt better overall, so it’s clear that your writing is evolving, and in a good direction.

I will definitely support you like I did with the first game! I’ve been waiting for this! Romance is now in the game (finally, yeah!) and now I get a even more expanded story. This is the only text interactive game I support and love.
I LOVED THIS GAME. And I have to say: THANK YOU for having a female MC, too. I was afraid that you could only be a badass male ronin, but, heh, lust+charming female MC is AWESOME. And Masashi hahahaha Oh how I enjoyed making him blush xD The scene when she’s a little girl and he’s a hot adult. Daaaaaaaaamn. I hope Masashi gets really tall suddenly or something hahaha poor kid, he has a crush on his bodyguard..~~
BUT I LIKE TOSHIO TOO. AND JUN. I have a thing for yanderes. I think that Jun and the MC are my favorite characters. Badass and sassy. <3

I’ve just finished the first book, and I nearly screamed because I did not expect it to be the end. A question though, is there going to be some ‘moments’ between MC and Jun? Because to be honest, I like him quite a lot e_e I would love for the two of them to be together, even if it leads to a bad end xD
Oh well, I’m gonna go for another play while waiting for the second book to come out. I hope it will come out soon 🙂

I’m really enjoying book one, It makes me feel so bad ass and omg you know how to get a person hooked lol because I felt so attached to masashi, I really felt the need to protect him. When Jun popped up, I was panicking since he had reached him and when I scrolled…BAM! cliffhanger XD I haven’t been so obsessed with a book in such a long time, so I’m really looking forward to book two.

Can you please inform us of the estimated release of Samurai of Hyuga 2? I understand that as an author your craft takes time and can be difficult to predict when it will be finished, but truly you just did such an amazing job with this story. Thank you so much for creating this.
SoH2 is very far into development and you can expect a demo version to appear on the site in a few weeks. No idea on the release—it involves a lot of factors from Choice of Games and the App Market that are out of my control.
It might also be cool to have polls to see which animal and or qualities are the most popular among your users.
And as it goes, I’m not much of a writer, but I am an accomplished artist. I know these stories are fueled by the power of our imaginations, but if I can ever be of assistance I would love to. I specialize in sketches, painting, and can sculpt.
I never considered polling, but that’s really a nice idea. After I get SoH2 out I want to focus a bit on the site more, including sections for fanart and other things too!

Oh those are fantastic news. I just played through Book 1 and really really loved it. In fact I loved it so much that I had to read it in one go and then my eyes felt all dry and were hurting thanks to staring at my phone screen for hours nearly without a break. I hope Book 2 will be available in the app store as well. If not I should bookmark this site just in case.
